Hoot! A Podcast From Cynwyd Elementary School
Dear students & parents, [Parents and Guardians-maybe a separate note to the students]
We are excited to begin our very first school-wide podcast and are looking for "radio show hosts" to script, and record our podcasts!
What is a podcast? Imagine having a "radio show" delivered to your personal computer with a single click! You'll be able to listen to Cynwyd's own (4th and) 5th graders share information about what is going on at Cynwyd School.
Initially, this project will involve 10 fifth graders. Those students will participate in an intense "Hoot Camp" to learn the in's and out's of podcasting. The work sessions will take place BEFORE school on Mondays and Wednesdays. They will be then be the first to create episodes of Hoot! to be shared with the Cynwyd community. Once each team has created an episode, they will then help train new recruits to the Hoot Team. To be candidate for selection as a member of the Hoot! Team, students need to complete the attached application form, which must also be signed by a parent or guardian. The application packet must be returned no later than . Interested students must also meet all selection criteria and be able to attend all Hoot! work sessions as scheduled. The criteria to be considered as team members are chosen are:
Hoot Team Members need to:
*Be responsible
*Be good listeners
*Work well with others
*Be good communicators
*Have a positive attiude
*Be willing to put forth effort to write and re-write scripts for their segments
*Be able to offer constructive criticism to peers *Be able to accept constructive criticism from peers and staff
This latest technology endeavor promises to be a wonderful asset to the entire school community as well as a great experience for the members of the Hoot Team.

1. In your opinion, why would you be a good radio show host?
2. On a scale of 1- 10, with 10 being the highest score, rank your typing skills. (Think about speed, accuracy, hand position etc.)
3. What does it mean to be part of a team?
4. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest score, rank your comfort level with using technology
