O: Good morning everyone!

L: Aujour`hui cest vendredi le 7 décembre 2007.

O: Il fait beau! Je m`appelle olivia dans la classe de Dr.Fulmer.

L: Et Je m`appelle Lexi dans le classe de Dr.Fulmer.

O: In this holiday-palooza of a podcast we will have a few fun facts on the holidays, a snowman joke, and french word of the day.


J: Hey, Daisy, do you know any winter jokes?

D: Sure, try this one on for size! What do you call a snowman in the desert?

J: Uh, I don't know...

D: A puddle!

J: Oh I get it, because it is hot in the desert and he would melt! That's funny!


J: I know there are a lot of holidays coming up, but I don’t know much about them.
D: Well, I found out that Kwanzaa is non-religious holiday that celebrates family, culture and community.
W: Did you know that the thing you light on Chanukah is a chanukia, not a menorah?

O: Did you know that Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus? He received three gifts, which is why gifts are exchanged at Christmas.

L: Ramadan is celebrated in the ninth month of the Muslim calendar. They use this holiday to strengthen family and community bond.

D: Kwanzaa is 7 days.
W: Hanukkah is 8 nights.
L: Well, Ramadan is a whole month!
O: Well, Christmas is one day, how about that!!

J: No matter how long the holiday is or which one you celebrate, we hope everyone enjoys the time with family and friends.


W: This podcast needs a French word of the day!
O: It sure does!
W: Do you know any holiday kind of words we could share today?
O: Of course!
W: Ok, what do you got?
O: How about "lumiere?"
W: Lumiere? Wasn't he a character in Beauty and the Beast?
O: Well, yes he was, but the word means light, which is an important part of most holiday traditions.
W: that's a great word-perfect for this podcast!
