R: today on hoot we will have
I: A look back on the intrumental music concert!
G: A review on the DARE Graduation.
A: The history of memorial day.
R: nice advice
G: the french phrase of the week.
I: And a special guest who you will meet later!
G: Lets start off the day with some exercise!
A: Yes! My fave!
R: everyone do 10 stylin jumping jacks!
G 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10!
R: whef that was quite a workout!
A: now everybody touch your toes!
(wait 2 sec.)
I: wow iloved that exercise it got me super duper pumped!
R: Now one last exercize, reach up to the the sky and pretend there are strings attatched to your fingers and breatthe in and out and finger by finger let your arms slowly drop down and take 3 deep breaths
G: Wow im all stretched out
R: How about we do some nice advice?
I: Today we'll be talking about some slamming topics such as: a friend problem, a school problem, or a home problem.
A:Yeah!
G: let me chack my e-mail
(pause and record computer typing and clicking)
ALL: hoot just got a letter, hoot just got a letter, hoot just a letter, we wonder who its from!
R:I'll read the letter.
Dear Hoot:
There is a girl in my class and she starts rumors about me that are not true and she also tells my friedns to stay away from me because she doesnt like me. She is always yelling at me. What should I do i'm really annoyed?

G: Well this is a big problem
R and G: But we can handle it!
R; First things first talk to the person and ask them to please stop and that it's hurting your feelings
G:If she continues talk to your teacher or a grown up to help you solve this problem.
R: And if this person does it again try using some second step stratergies to calm yourself down. You can try counting down from ten or breathing in and out.
G: If you feel uncomfortable talking to the person by yourself ask you teacher if they could talk to the person for you. If any other people have this problem use our strategies.
R and G: We hope that this advise helps.
R: One last thing if this continues
G: talk to Mrs Ruzzi but make sure that you try our strategies first.
I: How fantastic was the DARE graduation Anna?
A: it was great and the speaches were amazing!
I: I hope the 4th graders enjoyed watching it and are excited to start the DARE program.
A: We really want to thank All of the 5th grade teachers , Ms. Dimedio and lots of thanks to Officer Gary and the Lower Merion Police Department.
(knock, knock,knock)
I: who in the world could that be?
A: I think I have an idea
(open the door)
I: OMGodness gracious! Its the wonderful, famous, Officer Gary!!!!!!! (cheering)
A: Officer Gary what a surprise!
G: officer gary, what is your job when you are on duty?

R: When did you start teaching the DARE program

I: why do we start the DARE program in 5th grade and not another grade?
OG:
A: if you could have any other job besides a police officer what would it be?

I: well thanks officer gary for coming.

I:Hey isn't Memorial Day on Monday?
A: o yeah, well why dont we tell the listeners some fun facts about memorial day
I: Sounds like fun!
A:Memorial Day is a patriotic holiday in the United States of America
I:Which usually is celebrated on the last Monday in May.
A: It is a celebration to remember in honor of the men and woman
I: who gave their lives for our country.
A: Memorial day was declared a holiday in 1971
R: wow I never knew how interesting memorial day can be!
G: That reminds me, The French Phrase of the week!!!!
R: it is Jour commémoratif
G: which means Memorial Day!!!!
I: hmmmm hmmmm hmmm lalalala wow those songs from the instrumental music concert are stuck in my head!
A: thats because they teeerrrrrrrrrrrrrific!
