C: Bonjour tu le monde.
T: Good morning everyone.
C: Aujourd'hui c'est vendredi le 9 novombre 2007.
T: I'll fiat beau!
C: Je m'appelle Chris dans la classe de Madame Salladino
T: Et je m'appelle Tori dans la classe de Madame Salladino
C: In this extravagant podcast we will review some great books, talk about the awesome assembly last week, share a Joke, and a French Word of the Day.
T: That sounds like a lot! We better get started!

Segment 1 Joke

JW: Hey, Jess! Do you know any good jokes?
JL: Absolutely...how about this one? A snail walks in to a car shop and asks the salesman if he had any cars with a big S on them.
JW: Why did he do that?
JL: Because when he drove around town he wanted everyone to be able to say "Look at that S car go!"
JW: Oh, I get it! Escargot is how you say snail in french! That's a good one!

Segment 2 Book Review
C: Hey, Tori, have you read any good books lately?
T: There are so many good ones out there-of course I have!
JL: Why don't we talk about some great books for each grade level?
JW: Sure-I remember when I was in Kindergarten and I read a great one called The Mitten by Jan Brett. A little girl drops her mitten in the snow and then all different kinds of animals use the mitten to keep warm. The pictures are great in that one!
JL: Wow! I'd like to read that!
T: Jessica, why don't you tell them about the 1st grade book series we wanted to talk about?
JL: Sure! This book series is called Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park. In the books, Junie B. has a lot of fun from finding a pet to uncovering mysteries. I recommend it to 1st grade and up! Some titles are Aloha ha-ha,Boo and I Mean It and Shipwrecked.
C: Cool! I'd like to read that one. Let's hear Julia talk about the Magic Tree House books.
JW: Mary Pope Osborn wrote 28 magical books about Annie and Jack. Jack and Annie travel to different places and different times in, well, of course, a magic tree house. Second graders may like this one.
JL: That's sounds great. Hey, Tori, do you have a book you want to talk about ?
T: I do, but maybe we should switch segments and come back later in the episode to talk about the rest of the books!
JW: Great Idea!

Segment 3 French Word of the Day
JL: Oh, Julia!
JW: Yes, Jessica, what's up?
JL: Julia, do you know what season it is right now?
JW: Of course...it is autumn. I can tell because the leaves are changing colors and the weather is getting cooler.
JL: You're right, but do you know how to say that in French?
JW: Ummm....
JL: In French you say: " Automne"
JW: Oh that's right! I remember now! Bonne Automne, Jessica!
JL: Bonne Automne everyone! Happy Autumn!

Segment 2(continued)
JW: Hey, Tori! How about telling us more about the book reviews?
T: Sure.... I remember.. I was going to talk about Andrew Clements. He's a great author who has written lots of books. One of his most popular is Frindle. Some others are Janitor's Boy and The Jacket.
JL: There's a great book for older kids, like fourth or fifth grade called Island of the Blue Dolphins. It is by Scott O'Dell and tells the tale of a young girl left alone on an island.
JW: Wow can you imagine being left all alone on an island for years?
JL: I couldn't! What about Hoot! I'd really miss the podcasts!!
T: That's funny Jess!
JW: Do you guys know one more-maybe for fifth grade?
T: How about the book called The Lightning Theif by Rick Riordan. It's about a boy who figures out that his father is a Greek god and that the ancient Greek gods are really still alive.
JL: How cool does that sound!
JW: Maybe I'll read that one!

Segment 4 Assembly Review
T: Hey Chris! What did you think about that assembly last week?
C: I thought it was AWESOME!
T: I thought so too! Did you know that the Free Cycle team has competed in the X games?
C: That's so cool! Did you know that they do two different shows? A ramp show and a floor show.
T: We were lucky to see the floor show.
C:Wasn't it cool when they jumped over the teachers?
T: Yeah! It was fantabulous!
C: The Free Cycle team's mission is very important.
T: What is it Chris?
C: The team's mission has 3 parts to it. First, always wear your safety helmet.
T: Oh right. And I remember the second part. It is never take drugs.
C: And the last rule is be cool and stay in school.
T: I hope they come back to Cynwyd again!!
C: Me too! They rocked!
